"Generations in Change" is a web-based multimedia pilot project with its content intended to enrich Chinese learning in intermediate regular and streamlined (low to high) classes. The functions of the site can improve learners' listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities.

The site features ten topics that are of great interest to the students at MIT according our survey. Each of the topics consists of at least ten video segments, and under each of the video segments there are four sections -- difficult words, grammar points culled from these segments, questions, and quizzes. All sections are presented in three versions -- simplified characters, traditional characters, and pinyin -- so that learners can choose their appropriate versions according to their needs.

The learners, after browsing the site, will be able to achieve some understanding about the impact that social changes and economic development in China have generated on the values, morals, and daily life of Chinese students as well as the subsequent changes in their philosophies of life and educational experiences.

In addition, the material also provides learners with the opportunity to study the relevant experiences of Chinese parents and grandparents before and after China's socio-economic reform and their attitudes towards changes regarding the younger generations.

The Website is a rich resource that offers learners a variety of things to explore. Learners will engage video and other media to develop their interpretations and understanding of Chinese culture, modern society, economy, and family relations. Learners will also be able to use the visual materials to facilitate and enhance their research projects, including writing papers and making presentations.
